Description:
Commencing CPAP treatment is more than just purchasing a CPAP machine and mask. Studies have shown that patients benefit from a more structured clinical approach – one which involves Respiratory / Sleep Specialist oversight as well as more frequent follow-up care – procures superior clinical outcomes across a wide range of measures. These include significantly higher CPAP usage per night, less daytime sleepiness, lower hospitalisations and deaths from cardiovascular disease.
This is particularly important when commencing treatment of a fixed pressure CPAP machine. As the pressure is fixed to a certain pressure setting, it is important to have this fixed pressure setting assessed on an ongoing basis, to ensure you are receiving optimal treatment.
Under the plan, you are entitled to 6 monthly bulk billed Respiratory/Sleep Specialist telehealth consultations and unlimited CPAP Consultant reviews for the duration of your plan.
New CPAP masks at the first and second year anniversary is included. Regular mask changes are important to ensure you get a good mask seal and for overall comfort when sleeping with a CPAP machine. Under the plan, you benefit from being able to choose from a wide variety of different CPAP masks and brands. Mix and match your CPAP machine and mask without restriction!
When using a fixed pressure CPAP machine, it is important to have the right mask that seals well and is comfortable, particularly if you are on a higher fixed pressure setting. A poor sealing mask can be terribly uncomfortable and be the difference between whether a patient is able to stay on treatment or not.
For added peace of mind, the plan also includes a complimentary loan CPAP machine, in the event your CPAP machine ever breaks down and requires repair.
CPAP is used for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea treatment. ALWAYS FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR USE. When considering whether CPAP treatment is right for you, speak to your doctor.
